Building the business behind Dr. Jen’s expertise

Derse Dental Strategy | Dugan AI Practice Systems | Engagement in progress, October 16, 2026

Dr. Jen Derse, DDS brings years of experience in dentistry to her work with dental practice owners. Through Derse Dental Strategy, she helps owners with their practices and speaks to dental organizations.

Building that business means making decisions her dental expertise alone can’t settle. What can a practice owner hire her to do? How does an event organizer book a conversation? Where does she keep track of an inquiry, and what needs to be ready when someone wants to move ahead?

Jen began a Dugan AI Business Operating System Sprint in August 2026. The 6-month engagement includes 3 months of build sessions followed by 3 months of advisory support, scheduled through early February 2027.

We’re working through those decisions with her and building the systems to support them. The work reaches into both sides of the business: how someone becomes a client and how Jen prepares to deliver the work they’ve hired her for.

A clearer path for each inquiry

A practice owner looking for help and an organization looking for a speaker need different conversations.

The offer work separates those paths. Calendly provides booking options for fit conversations and speaking inquiries. Bonsai holds contacts, companies, and projects so Jen has a place to keep track of the relationship as it develops.

Discovery and client journey materials, including contract templates support the lead-to-cash process.

These are practical details you feel when you run a business yourself. You need to know where a conversation stands and what you owe the person on the other end of it.

A tool built around how Jen works

Practice FMX is the most specific example of the build so far.

Jen’s onsite assessment work needs a consistent way to capture what she finds at a dental practice and prepare it for a report. Dugan AI built a custom capture app around that work.

The app organizes assessment data and prepares report-ready output. The workflow includes offline capture and a paper fallback for visits where internet access is unreliable. As of October 2026, the app is feature-complete and being prepared for real use.

Jen owns the dental assessment method. Dugan AI built the tool around it. She reviews and approves the dental content.

For a consultant whose service depends on their own expertise, this is a useful part of the Practice Systems Work: giving a method a practical form they can use during delivery.

Where AI fits

AI has supported development of the Practice FMX app, drafts of discovery and client journey materials, and the conversion of working-session notes into tracked action items.

Jen makes the decisions about her services and dental content. We use those decisions to shape the tools and materials around her work.

What this shows about a Business Operating System engagement
